DAA Basketball Season Kickoff
by posted 11/06/2018

Hello DAA Basketball Parents

These season is kicking off this week with practices starting tonight for some teams. If you have not received an email from your coach one should be coming within the next day. As some of you may have noticed some of the days, times and locations for practice are not ideal. This is due to one (Edgewater Elementary) of our two main facilities being under construction this year. The county has made every effort to find us locations to make up for losing the Edgewater Elementary facility. Fortunately we have enough gym time to accommodate our 28 County team and 11 Clinic teams. Unfortunately, the new locations are spread out between Annapolis Middle School, Phoenix Academy and South County Rec Center and the available times tend to trend towards later in the evening and Fridays. Our scheduler has done the best they can to try and keep the younger teams practice times earlier moving up to older age teams at the later times while also taking the volunteer coach’s availability into consideration. We should be back to a more manageable schedule next year when Edgewater is available.

Practice Etiquette

Things to consider for your child’s practice. Please know that most facilities will be accommodating two teams during each practice time and the noise level is quite high. Please keep siblings that are watching practice and players waiting to practice to a whisper so the coaches may instruct the players who are on the court. Additionally, please keep all siblings off the court, out of the halls and off any gym equipment (ie tumbling mats). The latter two apply to the players as well and please have players only on the court at their scheduled practice times. Please remember to pick up all garbage, water bottles, and clothing prior to departing after practice. Additionally, for those who have practices at the beginning of the evening at each location please do not bang on the door. The facility will open at our allocated time. If there is a problem the coach will work to rectify with the facility or one of the Basketball Coordinators. We are guests of the facilities and need to comply with their rules.

Forms Required

You will be asked to fill out multiple forms emailed to you by your coach as well as bring an $80 check made out to DAA Basketball for a uniform deposit which will not be deposited unless you fail to return the uniform to the coach within two weeks after the conclusion of the season. Please bring these forms and check no later than your 2nd scheduled practice.

Uniform Sizes

Please validate that your child’s Shirt and Shorts sizes are correct within your registration so we can ensure your child receives the right size uniform. This can be done by logging onto DAAGators.org and selecting My Account and clicking on your child’s 2018 Basketball registration. After editing the sizes please be sure to click submit at the bottom.
