BACK AGAIN IN 2019: DST PRE-TEAM:
This summer we'll continue with the DST Pre-Team. The pre-team is for those swimmers who are not quite able to swim the length of the pool, but who are close to achieving that goal. These swimmers will likely be 4-6 years old; be able to swim at least half a length of the pool using some form of front crawl; be able to kick the full length of the pool with the assistance of a kickboard; and not be afraid of the water. Importantly, the pre-team is NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SWIM LESSONS. Rather, the pre-team is for those swimmers who aren’t quite ready for the rigors of an up-and-back swim practice.
The pre-team will practice twice each week (Tues. and Thurs.) for 45 minutes. This group will be smaller, however, which will allow for greater individualized IN-WATER instruction and a better coach-to-swimmer ratio. As those on the pre-team improve their skills, they will be moved to the 6 & under group. The goal is to have every pre-teamer ready to swim the length of the pool (in a Saturday meet) by season’s end.
Evaluations for the pre-team will be conducted by the coaching staff during the first weekend of practice. Questions: contact
2019 PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

DST couldn’t operate without the assistance of parent volunteers. From running the meets to organizing spirit events to having donuts at Friday practices, there’s a lot of work required to pull a swim season together. That’s why all families are required to volunteer for (at least) three jobs during the course of the season (families who have only 6 and under swimmers only need to do one job). If you have questions about the volunteer requirements, contact Amanda Malone at email@example.com.
