The DAA basketball program promotes fair play, good sportsmanship, skills and fun for players ages 8 through 17. The teams are registered in the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Basketball League.
EVALUATIONS FOR 2012/2013 SEASON
Teams will be established based on the skill level of your daughter. Each player is encouraged to attend both evaluations, but if you can only make one that is fine.
We will be evaluating two age groups at one time in most cases. This is due to gym space. Your daughter will be evaluated with her age group for placement purposes. If she is playing up in age, she should be evaluated with the older age group.
Evaluation Dates and Times:
All Girls Evaluations held at Central Middle School
Monday October 22nd & Wednesday October 24th
8 & 9 Year Olds 5:45 - 6:45
10 & 11 Year Olds 7:00 - 8:00
12 & 13 Year Olds 8:15 - 9:15
14-17 Year Olds No evaluations, teams will be determined based on the number of registered players at the conclusion of High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Try Outs.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your age groups starting time so that you have time to sign in and receive your numbered evaluation jersey.

Please note every attempt will be made to grant your daughter's jersey number request. The team manager will have final say in an attempt to avoid duplicate numbers within the same age group and team.

Ages
If you have visited this site recently, you may have seen an age chart that caused some confusion. Hopefully this will make it easier for everyone. When you register, you will be placed on a team based on whatever your birthday is as of September 1. You MUST have turned eight years old by September 1, 2010 to play at the County level.
Examples:
1. Birth Date - August 29, 2003 Your daughter was 9 as of September 1, 2010. She will be on the 9U team.
2. Birth Date - September 3, 2003 Your daughter was 8 as of September 1, 2010. She will be on the 8 year old team.
NOTE: Should you want your duaghter to play UP an age group, please send an e-mail to GirlsBasketball@daagators.org and her status will be changed in the system. Your daughter will need to be evaluated with the "UP" age group and will be placed on a team according to her skill level.
Girls are never allowed to play in a younger age group, nor are they allowed to play on two teams. Additionally, if your daughter is playing basketball on a high school team, she is not permitted to play in the County leagues.
Age groups are formed in one year increments. 8 year olds play with 8 year olds, 9's with 9's, etc... The two exceptions are with the 14/15 year old and 16/17 year old age groups.
The County has divisions A, B, C and D; A division being the most competitive. Girls will be placed in a division commensurate with the appropriate skill level. At times the County may combine divisions if they do not receive enough registrations in a particular level.

DAA basketball program does its best to group players in their appropriate skill level; consequently, it's imperative that your daughter attend as many scheduled skills evaluation nights as possible.

Tournaments
The County is also sponsoring a December Madness Youth Basketball Tournament in late December. All of our County Teams registered in the A & B levels are eligible; however, it is contingent upon your daughter’s coach to enter the team. The cost of this tournament will be an additional fee of $100 per team + Referee fees.
